A safe Eurovision non-winnerIrish Independent
Westlifer McFadden’s song was in a league of its own. It was definitely the best song on the night with the words “Bosnia Herzegovina” in it. Anyone who is old enough to remember the Meeelstreet Eurovision in 1993 will remember the sentimental potency of the words “Bosnia Herzegovina”, but whether the words have the same vote-pulling oomph in 2003 is a moot point. The good news regarding the quality of songs on offer is that they are no more embarrassing (or better) than a lot of previous Irish entries. They also guarantee that Ireland will not be hosting the Eurovision in 2004, which is just as well because by then 36 countries will be participating and the contest is going to be run off over two nights which could have bankrupt RTE and forced Fair City actors to become permanent anti-war demonstrators… Anyone who is old enough to remember the Meeelstreet Eurovision in 1993 will remember the sentimental potency of the words “Bosnia Herzegovina”, but whether the words have the same vote-pulling oomph in 2003 is a moot point. Mando to represent Greece in Rigaesctoday.com
net News. The artist who is going to represent Greece in the 48th Eurovision Song Contest in Riga is talented female singer Mando with her song Never Let You Go… , the song that represented Greece in Tallinn last year. Dafni Bokota, the long serving commentator of the Eurovision Song Contest for ERT, was the hostess for the evening. Dafni was very relaxed, witty and pleasant, as always. To her aid, she had Rika Vagianni and Popi Tsapanidou in a commentary box. All three ladies were looking great (on a night that was far from short of splendidly looking ladies). Then the ten competing songs were performed live, with each one of them introduced by a video where the contestants made a short comment about the contest.

Jemini?s biggest fans are Liverpool?s best known modern pop exports Atomic Kitten; Natasha Hamilton having grown up in bands with Jemini?s Chris. ?I think this song?s brilliant and will give us the best possible chance of winning the overall competition? says Natasha Kitten proudly. Both Gemma and Chris have loved Eurovision since they were kids and count fellow Liverpudlian Sonia, Precious and Dana International amongst their favourites. It has always been their dream to get to Eurovision and now they?re through they can?t wait to experience the famous parties, Latvian food and to do quite a bit of shopping ! Chris? only problem is to satisfy his mum?s voracious appetite for autographs ?she?s totally ecstatic about the whole thing, can?t imagine what will happen if we win !?

He studied music at Salford University and was the first student in the UK to complete a degree specialising in song-writing and sound recording… ?I think this song?s brilliant and will give us the best possible chance of winning the overall competition? says Natasha Kitten proudly. The country will be divided into five regions, which will, through the Eurovision point system (12, 10, 8, etcetera), select four artists to perform their song once more. In the super final, the rules will be changed.

It will play a key role at the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest in Riga, Latvia, where it will be used as the main broadcast intercom system by all the European states and in the future is likely to be used by SVT at major sport and other outside events. SVT elected to use coax connection between the matrix and user panels so that additional panels can be borrowed from other SVT Drake systems as required. It can also act as a ?add on? system in the TV-centre, which already have Drake systems. Mats Fred?n, Chief Engineer at SVT, said: ?We have an excellent relationship with both Drake and VideoCad AB, built-up through years of good service. Drake supplied us with a solution that was fully flexible and easy to configure and set-up.
