Rasma Dumpe, the Director of the video, told that the shooting took three days in the Western part of Latvia in August. She is happy for Dzintars Cica who proved himself not only as a songwriter, but as a talented actor, too. Aivars Auzins, the Executive Producer of Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Latvia, admitted that despite the low budget the video has good quality. The main idea of the video is to play with a child\’s fantasies about the summer-fun and the reality. Zita Kaminska, the Head of the Delegation, revealed that the Spanish and Dutch Broadcasters have expressed the wish to show the video of Latvian entrant at their National Selections of Junior ESC. Meanwhile, Gints Skribans is working with Dzintars and his two backing vocalists, and four dancers on the choreography, but Kristine Lemberga designs the costumes for the performance in Copenhagen.

The 10-year-old Cleator Moor crooner came third in the first ever Junior Eurovision with the song, which he wrote after seeing news footage of the war in Iraq. Ever since his performance in Copenhagen last month, the News & Star, which has a web page dedicated to Tom, has been inundated with requests from people wanting to get a copy of the song. His parents Tina and Jack have also been flooded with calls from people who want to buy it on CD. People from as far away as America and Spain, which is screening a special TV show this Friday dedicated to Tom and the other Eurovision youngsters, have been trying to get their hands on the track. Tom’s dad Jack said: “Everyone keeps asking where they can buy a copy of it.

This makes the Innovative Event look more like an ITV telethon than is perhaps intended. Some pose searching questions: “Did Heathen reflect Nietzsche’s theory of meaninglessness in the world?” Others do not: “I LUV YOU SNEEZY XXXXX”. Next, there is a Europe-wide Q&A for the fans, which simultaneously recalls the Eurovision Song Contest and a particularly chaotic phone-in on 1980s kids show Saturday Superstore. Technical hitches abound. The questions are staggering. Josephine in Berlin wants to know what happened to a dog Bowie owned in the 1970s. Unsurprisingly, Bowie replies that the dog died.

It gives the impression of emulation rather than creation – and therein lies the problem, more so than in Jewel’s complete change of musical direction. As a choice of first single ‘Intuition’ was a clever marketing decision. It is undoubtedly the best track on the album (despite its disturbing Eurovision resemblance) and the remainder doesn’t quite live up to that upbeat quirky standard. In fact ‘Stand’ is the only other track that you could imagine hitting the charts. Her proclamation of “I’m just a simple girl in a high-tech digital world” best sums this one up as there is far too much production and far too little Jewel. Although the vocals are strong, their meaning is undermined by a synthesised beat that seems to contradict any messages of a purer nature. An air of uncertainty clouds over tracks that could rest easier blended with similar material.

Driving ambition: the first golf course in BulgariaSofia Echo
Todorov’s future plans include a golf cart factory on the Ihtiman property, a Junior Golf Club and a Ladies’ section. Educating an entire nation about a new sport takes a lot of creativity. Starting on September 5 , Eurovision will air the first of 25 episodes of a film series produced by the Golf Federation. Each 15-minute show is a mini golf lesson that will be taught in Bulgarian. He’s planning a multi-media effort with an accompanying book to be released soon. The book, also in Bulgarian, is 200 pages and covers instruction, rules and etiquette of the game. Todorov is betting golf will suit Bulgarians to a tee.
