the weakest link! James Fox, the United Kingdom’s hope at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, appears on the popular quiz the Weakest Link on 8th May. He will be joined by Gina G and Sonia for sure! “Goodbye, you’re the weakest link” is already an often used quote in many countries all over the world! Sometimes, well-known people feature in the programme as participants. On 8th May, James Fox, Gina G and Sonia will appear. Sonia represented the UK in 1993 with The devil you know and ended up second! Gina G reached an 8th place with Oooh aah.

Skidmore and his excellent Ex Cathedra have already proved their mettle in this sort of repertoire so they are fully qualified to give us authorative performances. The Mass for Four Choirs is a forty minute work of unabashed splendour with some wonderful counterpoint and a ravishing Credo. The same goes for the strikingly radical, ‘Salut de la veille des ‘O’ which also has some brilliantly original touches. The concluding motet dedicated to St Peter’s denial is also highly interesting.

asp and you’ll be able to take part in “The US Election for the Rest of the World”. In true Eurovision song contest style, you can vote for one of the presidential candidates – just so long as you’re not American – and check out each country’s votes. George Bush was languishing yesterday with a pitiful 5. 9% of worldwide votes, but John Kerry’s 44. 5% was pipped by Ralph Nader’s 49.

Philip on Saturday: Boat Race bluesTelegraph.co.uk
That’s why my all-time Boat Race hero has to be cox Peter Hobson, who aspired to new depths when he scuppered Cambridge before the start of the 1984 duel by torpedoing a stationary barge underneath Putney Bridge. Not only that, but for some mysterious reason, some of them actually seem to care who wins. Why? Matthew Pinsent, Olympic champion and former Oxford president, supported Cambridge as a child ‘because my nanny liked to dress me in light blue’. For myself, I have always favoured the Dark Blues because of our first family car. On such trivialities is a lifetime’s affiliation born.

Dobbs commented: “As a ‘touch screen sceptic’ I was very pleasantly surprised at the clarity, accuracy and general ease of use of the large colour touch screens on the Vector. At no point in the day did I curse them while prodding them with a blunt implement! ?I have been using Compulite consoles for 12 years and despite the range of new features on the Vector the intuitive graphical user interface and interactive dialogues ensured I was never left struggling to quickly achieve what I wanted. The displays are completely user configurable and a few minutes organising the layouts ensured I could instantly see the information I needed. The desk did what I asked of it, without any fuss.

The 15th BJ’s non-stop, 100-hour, live Music Marathondi-ve.com
It is not unusual to find an ensemble created out of rock, jazz, folk, blues and classical musicians jamming together to produce something very unique. The marathon opens this year, as it does every year, on Easter Monday, 12 April, at 5pm. It has become a tradition for the Eurovision contestants to inaugurate the event, and this year Julie and Ludwig will be doing the honours. It has also become a tradition for a Mass to be celebrated, with music of course, on Sunday morning. Throughout the week the music is chosen to suit the mood: 9am to 1pm features mainly jazz, between 1pm and 9pm ethnic music is given a stage with meditation sessions included, from 9pm to 3am mainstream bands entertain the audience and for the insomniacs between 3am and 9am open jamming sessions are given free reign. Mr Fenech urged all musicians interested in participating to contact him on 9949-3534 or visit BJ’s after 10pm. He also called on the public to come and support live music in Malta and make a donation to WOW.

Universal appeal is a thing of the past. ‘ By now, I am ready for the ironic pay-off line. ‘I mean, not even the Eurovision Song Contest is watched by everybody. ‘ Terry Wogan was born in Limerick, where his father ran a grocer’s shop. He has one brother, who is six years younger than him. ‘My parents were shy people and the worst sin in the Catholic church, after sex, was vanity. So how any of us came out of it with any self-regard, I don’t know.
