Vella / Borg song chosen for Belgian
Earlier on this year the Belgian broadcaster VRT launched an international search, and after receiving 321 songs from artists and composers, they made their final selection. “Beyond You” will be performed by popular Belgian artist Vanessa Chinitor who has already represented her country in 1999 with the song “Like The Wind. ”

This is a comeback for Vanessa after 7 years of her first participation in Eurosong, and wining. Earlier this year, she told newspapers in Belgium that she will only take part in the contest again if she finds the right song.

National Orchestra goes
The musical arrangements have also been scored by Sigmund Mifsud. Other top local artistes appearing will be Malta’s Internationally acclaimed Pop Star Ira Losco, Ruben Zahra’s Nafra, whose music has been specifically arranged for the night to a fifty piece orchestra. Gianni Zammit of Teatru Unplugged fame, Pamela from last years Eurovision Song Contest and Margaret Micallef, the latter two both from Gozo. A fusion of music genres blending themes from sound tracks, immortal swing numbers, soul music, excerpts from popular musicals such as Chicago, oh and there will also be one or two surprises. It was also a year for heroes with Chiara placing second in the Eurovision Song Contest and the Maltese athletes winning a record tally of medals in Andorra. A series of horrific fireworks explosions shook the nation throughout the festive season and this was the year in which the country hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. There are no uneventful years but the 2005 will surely leave a trail of highlights, lowlights and head-scratching moments.

Harem’s albums have so far been released in 55 countries. The group consists of four percussion geniuses and a backup DJ. Harem, which sampled from many popular artists like Despina Vandi to Eurovision winner Ruslana in their remixes, is currently on a world tour. The group, since they were first founded in 1999, has released four albums, which are even sold in music stores in Japan and the United States. Harem is now breaking sales records in 13 Arabian countries with their latest album ?Club and Chill Out Classics. ? The group, whose albums demonstrate a unique dancing form by harmonizing different tunes and instruments from different cultures such as Greek composer Phoebus; Turkish DJ Kaan G?kman and Murat Uncuo?lu, mixes the rhythms of tabor with electronic music in their performances. While Harem continues to offer an excellent dance experience for the music fans of Ukraine, Belgium and Greece on their world tour, their ?Club and Chill Out Classics? album is their first direct exposure to the Arab world’s music lovers.
