Moscow Kicks Off Preparations for Eurovision

Belgrade Mayor Dragan Dilas handed over a giant key ring with Perspex symbols of each city that has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest to Luzhkov at a ceremony to kick off Moscow’s preparations for the contest which will be held at Olimpiisky Stadium and culminate with finals in the Luzhniki Stadium on May 16. The ceremony began with a short film about last year’s event set to Russia’s winning song “Believe” performed by Bilan. Clips showed Bilan crying waving a Russian flag and embracing Serbia’s 2007 winner Marija Serifovic. Speaking fluent Russian Belgrade’s mayor said he felt the “hospitality and friendship of Moscow and Russia.

Channel One to hold national final for 2009 Eurovision

The broadcaster will also be responsible for the selection of the national entry. Channel One announced today during the insignia host city exchange that there will be a televised national final for the 2009 bidding. It is not a secret that Russia despite winning in 2008 is very interested to win again!The broadcaster selected the entries for the 1995 2005 and 2007 Eurovision representation. In order to make up for the big disappointment amongst the Dutch fans OGAE Netherlands and our partnersite 12points. tv are putting their hands together to organise a Eurovision party on December 20th. More than 25 former Dutch Eurovision representatives were about to make their appearance at the ‘Songfestival The Winners’ show. Due to low tickets sales and the withdrawal of the main sponsor the organisers had to cancel the event. The new date in April will be announced soon. The alternative party will take place in Den Bosch on December 20 as well. Location: De Azijnfabriek – Bethaniestraat 4 Den Bosch.
