The government cut 35 million euros from LTV’s budget including the 150. 000 Eurovision fee. Latvia as all the other countries had until December 14 time to confirm their participation but got 3 extra days from EBU to sort out the situation. In neigbouring Lithuania the situation is still unclear. LTR had decided to cancel several programmes due to its final crisis including all international events like Eurovision song contest Junior Eurovision and Eurovision dance contest.

X Factor Eoghan hoping to sing in Eurovision

The 16-year-old who developed a huge teenage fan base in Ireland and the UK with his performances on the ITV show finished in third place in the weekend finale. Eoghan from Dungiven is now expected to land a lucrative record deal but has said he was keen to represent Ireland in Eurovision. "I’d be honoured to do it as I would be doing it for my country" he said. But he could be in competition with two-time winner Johnny Logan after it emerged that RTE is considering offering him the chance to perform in Eurovision again next year. The singer was beaten in a nail-biting ‘X Factor’ final of which the overall winner Alexandra Burke who performed with superstar Beyonce. Her version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ is tipped to top the Christmas charts.

The singer who released two duets with Kate Ryan this year makes a bid with the song La Noche Es Para Mi. “If Spain wants me to go for it I will do it” Soraya Arnelas said a couple of weeks ago. The singer became a fan favourite for representing Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow after releasing two duets with Kate Ryan and recording a new album with the brothers Xasqui and Toni Ten the songwriters of Rosa’s Europe’s Living A Celebration the Spanish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002.
