Peoplecan type faster than they can think. ” Lembit continues to entertain in 2009. Was Terry Wogan’s Eurovision departure all part of AndrewLloyd Webber’s plan to return Britain to the competition’s front rank? The composer who is writing the British entry for this year’s contest told Heatmagazine: “I think there’s a feeling in Eastern Europe that Britain has beentaking the piss out of Eurovision for years. Terry’s a great mate butthere’s a journey we’d have to take to convince Europe that we’re beingserious. He got upset over the voting last year and he’s said things in thepast that have upset one or two countries. ”Got a story to tell? people@thetimes.

“I love it” beams the composer. “Everyone I know has Eurovision parties – I’ve held one myself and Richard Curtis’s are legendary! We all turn up in silly costumes and hats. ” So Lloyd Webber would seem the ideal choice to front Your Country Needs You a new BBC1 series starting on Saturday for which he has selected six unknown acts from which the public will choose by phone vote who will represent the UK at next year’s Eurovision. He has also composed the song the winner will perform at the contest.

manchestereveningnews. However that is not really how it was and after all 2008 turned out to be the year when the BBC finally got a kick up the ass from hopefully the MEN blog and it decided enough was enough. Indeed it t wasn’t the fault of Andy Abraham that we did so badly in Belgrade it was more to do with of the previous selection system that he had no real contenders to him being made our national selection for 2008. There is little doubt in my mind that Dima Bilan’s song was set up to win this competition from Day 1 and one wonders how on earth a badly out of tune performance could still be enough to win unless some underhanded double dealing went on. Russia’s friends on the evening of the final included Armenia Belarus Estonia Israel Latvia Lithuania and the Ukraine who unfathomably all gave the maximum 12 points.

A lot of things both good and bad have happened and even greater things are soon to come. “So what did we really do during 2008? Well we started out in great style by doing our first performance in the Swedish game show ‘Bingolotto’ where we for the first and only time so far performed the song ‘We Are ne’. “In early February we joined forces with our good friend and fellow artist E-TYPE to once again compete in the Swedish edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. This time with the song ‘Line f Fire’ which was written by E-Type and Jakob [Samuel; THE PDLES singer also ex-THE RING TALISMAN JEKYLL & HYDE]. So this happy bunch went down to Gothenburg and then on to the northern city of Kiruna to defend our colors. “When the Eurovision was all taken care of we set our sails and headed out to meet the fans in Europe. During March and April we played a number of fantastic shows in Germany Holland Spain Italy and Switzerland.
