Diane Warren the songwriter who un-broke Toni Braxton’s heart and Blamed It n the Rain for Milli Vanilli ? that is er the woman who penned those songs will help Lloyd Webber in the UK’s bid for Eurovision glory. “I hope that a song from Andrew Lloyd Webber and me will spell a change of fortune for the UK at Eurovision” Warren said possibly while draped in the stars and stripes and eating apple pie. “We will write the best song possible for the event and for the artist. “It will be weeks until the UK chooses its Eurovision singer whittling down the finalists on the BBC1 show Your Country Needs You. This weekend Damien Flood became the first act to be booted off the programme. Though Lloyd Webber had the chance to “save” one of the two lowest-polled contestants he chose Charlotte Finlay-Tribe over Flood.

Moiseyev Bids for Moscow Eurovision Contest
The Moscow Times Russia
By Kevin ‘FlynnPublished: January 13 2009Boris Moiseyev the first openly gay singer in Russia said he is bidding to represent his country at the Eurovision song contest that Moscow will host this May — a move likely to be opposed by many because of his homosexuality. Moiseyev once described as a cross between romantic novelist Barbara Cartland and English drag artist Danny La Rue said in a telephone interview Monday that he had applied to represent Russia although he refused to say any more. If chosen Moiseyev a popular performer loved by fans for his bright and supremely cheesy pop will be a fitting choice for the supremely cheesy contest. But the choice would be a controversial one since homophobic attitudes are still widespread in Russia and Mayor Yury Luzhkov has banned any gay parades during the contest despite its huge gay following.

He also hosted coverage of snooker the Eurovision Song Contest Wimbledon and the lympic Games. Known as the BBC’s triple-S man – for snooker showjumping and skiing –the versatile Vine was renowned as a safe pair of hands. Such was his trademark blandness that when Vine retired in 2000 one television critic remarked that satirists and impressionists had found him impossible to mimic. “He hunches forwards and stares intensely into the camera from behind heavy glasses as worn by Brains of Thunderbirds. His jackets and ties are strictly Man at C&A.
