Eurovision contenders withdraw from benefit concert for Gaza …

The two singers were due to perform last Friday at a benefit in Tel Aviv to raise money for Gazan civilian victims of peration Cast Lead but canceled their participation at the last minute – just a day before the event. Their decision came after a series of letters published in the media criticized the singers against the backdrop of the fighting in Gaza and called on the event’s organizers to bar them from performing at the concert. Friday’s concert was attended by about 300 people and starred such singers as Shlomi Shaban the rapper Saz and Eran Zur. Actor Yosef Swaid read a letter from Nini and Awad to the audience explaining why they had decided not to participate.

Eurovision fans and public are invited today to chat with Melody the winner of the Spanish Eurovision online selection. The encounter with the beautiful Andalusian artist is scheduled to take place at 13:30 CET. Melody is the hot favourite along with Soraya to win the ticket to represent Spain at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. The Spanish press and media are already in a frenzy speculating a two horse race between the divas.

Netherlands: TRS new Eurovision broadcaster in 2010

For at least three years the contest will be broadcast on TRS while this year NS will still air the show. This year NS is already in charge for choosing the Dutch representative in the Eurovision Song Contest but not the broadcast of the final. The national final will be held next Sunday 1st February with De Toppers performing all songs. Televoting and regional juris will then choose the song to represent the country in Moscow.

The record company My Way Music responsible for releasing the ?Dansk Melodi Grand Prix? album said it intends to bring legal action against a Swede who made the copy of the album available over the internet. A technical problem led to 17 copies of the album being downloaded legally before the error was caught. The unknown Swede then made the music available on the popular YouTube website. Henrik Sørensen head of My Way Music told DR news that the Swede ?better expect a court case from us when we find him?.
